It’s like running into a brick wall. A website has great information and would make a great addition to Crafty Tips or any other site for that matter. They might even have several pages of their own favorite sites but when it comes to linking to them, there’s absolutely nothing. No logo, no banner, no text, not even the suggestion to link to them.

Don’t make this mistake!

Invite people to give you backlinks. You might be surprised how effective this can be. more…

Kindness and caring comes in all shapes and sizes. A simple idea to help area artisans obtain the health care they need in exchange for their time has led to colorful murals, dance therapy, music therapy, a stronger sense of community and so much more. The long-awaiting upgrade for Crafty Tips is delayed due to the sheer volume of websites currently listed. One of my major goals was to make room for bigger pictures to really showcase the wonderful items everyone is making. Every site has to be re-visited and a new picture or a new copy of the old one has to be saved. As I visit each website, shop and blog I am seeing a wonderful trend – the emergence of true artisans. Don’t get me wrong, the workmanship of the crafters has always been top notch but there are definitely some who have truly grown in their craftsmanship and artistry. more…

beaded jewelryMore than once I’ve been in a store and overheard someone say that they really love a particular item. We’ve all heard those types of comments. I admit to often sneaking a peak to see what it is they are talking about. Where we make our mistake however, is when that comment is followed up with a sigh and another comment, “If only it came in a different color”, ” If only they had one in my size” or “If only I could use it for ____ too”. more…

Creatives working as writers and artisans face the common difficulty of determining a fair price for their efforts.

Deep down most creatives feel their work is priceless. It is something they created from their own thoughts and visions and constructed with their own hands. Priceless is just that. But, without a price, we can’t sell our work and pay for our studios, workrooms and dinner.

Other creatives don’t value their efforts and often settle for not much more than the cost of their supplies when selling their pieces. It’s this group, that I want to talk to… more…
