The long-awaiting upgrade for Crafty Tips is delayed due to the sheer volume of websites currently listed. One of my major goals was to make room for bigger pictures to really showcase the wonderful items everyone is making. Every site has to be re-visited and a new picture or a new copy of the old one has to be saved. As I visit each website, shop and blog I am seeing a wonderful trend – the emergence of true artisans. Don’t get me wrong, the workmanship of the crafters has always been top notch but there are definitely some who have truly grown in their craftsmanship and artistry. more…

Wowza, the weeks are just flying by. Seems like it wasn’t all that long ago that it was Valentine’s Day. Nothing really earth shattering to say today. Been busy with client work and updating Crafty Tips. Yes, I’m finally going to fix those little lingering things that keep breaking every time Microsoft puts out a new version of Internet Explorer.

I’m so excited! Amy, the brains behind Mod Podge Rocks invited me to guest blog on her great site. I can’t thank her enough for giving me such a great opportunity.
I’d like to welcome any of Amy’s regular readers who may be stopping by in the next few days. If you liked the tutorial about writing tutorials on Amy’s site, there’s tons more great stuff like that scattered throughout Blog About Crafts.
And, if you have a blog or other arts and crafts related website, please consider participating in my site Crafty Tips. You’ll get free advertising for your blog, website or shop and be participating in the only arts and crafts directory that includes every participant’s favorite crafting tip.

You know it’s bad when you go back to a project you shelved and realize it’s been almost a year, 345 days, since you last worked on it.
Sadly, for me, the project is a site redesign for Crafty Tips and is way overdue. A new software release has finally pushed me to drag out the old files and get back to coding the new layout.
All of what makes Crafty Tips special are staying – easy navigation, a collection of useful crafting websites and of course all of those awesome crafting tips everyone shared.
What hopefully will disappear are those content boxes that are not resizing properly since the last IE upgrade and what I think is a somewhat dreary appearance.
What will be new is larger pictures and a layout that makes the pictures really stand out and be consistent among each of the listings. One design I’m playing with will allow for both a screen shot and a product shot. I plan on expanding the details pages to include great things like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and other social networking info as well as some other things I’m still working on.
Until I get everything in place, the current listings will remain online and I will continue to accept new submissions. Once the new design is launched, I will be contacting everyone for their social networking info and providing the opportunity for everyone to update their current listings.
Stay tuned for more announcements as things get further along.
I’ve also come across a wizz-bang Firefox add-on that I’m just loving. Will talk about it if anyone’s interested.
Rubber stamping, scrapbooking and paper crafts have always intrigued me but my oh-so-limited drawing skills have made a little easier to “just say no” to all the pretty papers, inks, embossing powders and stamps. After all, I already have enough beads, yarn and fabric to stock a small store. The idea of starting a new craft that requires a whole new set of supplies would be a bit foolhardy on my part considering my current financial situation. I do find these paper crafts fascinating and admire the folks who can make beautiful cards and other works of art.
While looking for some new rubber stamping sites to add to Crafty Tips, I discovered a great way for rubber stampers, scrapbookers and paper artists to share their creations and challenge themselves to be even more creative – weekly challenge sites.
The weekly challenges are a clever way some rubber stamping companies and other artists are promoting the art of rubber stamping. These challenge sites have a weekly theme, pattern or must use image and then the artists are challenged to come up with something wonderful following that week’s rules. The results are absolutely amazing! Many of the creations are then posted on the original site and a prize is awarded to a favorite design or via a random draw.
In the Rubber Stamping category I have added a new section called Rubber Stamping Challenges. There’s three great sites listed there now and I plan on adding more in the weeks to come.
Whether you are a rubber stamping god or goddess or are someone who simply admires those who are, be sure to check out these great sites and be inspired by all of the creativity on display.
