Thanksgiving isn’t just for people. It’s a great time for kitties to give thanks too. We’ve only lived in our current home for the past year. Our new mommies promised our old family pictures and an update on how we are doing so I asked Michele if I could write our old family a letter. My little sister Tali and I are so very happy in our new home and are so very thankful that we have such a great home.

This is way longer than most of my posts but I hope our former family will be glad that we are so happy and it will also tell you more about me and my sister.

Hello, my name is Hapi.

Michele has been nice enough to share a little bit of her blog with me and let me make some of my own posts.

While I don’t know what I’m going to talk about, I do know that I’m a very pretty girl. Well, at least that’s what Michele and her Mom keep telling me. As you can see I am a Siamese cat and have bright blue eyes.

Just in case you can’t see my pretty blue eyes in the little picture, here’s a bigger one; after all, they are my most striking feature…

hapi catI have a little sister named Tali. I call her my little sister because she is so much smaller than I am but she’s the same age as me. I really love Tali but sometimes she can really get on my nerves.

Speaking of nerves…I was not a happy cat when Michele put this stupid toy on my head. Sure, I posed for this picture; after all, I am a bit of a ham. To get back at her, I absolutely refuse to play with it. She can wiggle it, jiggle it and toss it across the room but I WILL NOT play with it ever. Serves her right!

Yes, I can be a bit cantankerous when the mood strikes me. And when it comes to this particular toy, the mood always strikes me.

I absolutely love to run and play and Michele is a great playmate. She knows just what I like and plays with me when I ask her to. She sometimes calls me beast because of the way I sometimes treat my sister but Tali is such a pain sometimes that I can’t stop myself. But, that’s OK, I get Michele back by not purring for her. I might one day, but for now, I’m just not gonna give her the satisfaction.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Maybe next time I’ll tell you more about what a brat my little sister is.

I have often told people that with enough trial and error I can pretty much crochet any stuffed shape I see.

So, it is more than a bit ironic that I am having so much trouble duplicating one of my own designs. I even took notes the first time. And yet, like Charlie Brown, I find myself in the search of the great pumpkin.

For one of our kitties, her favorite toy is a little finger puppet with a stuffed head and floppy ears. She throws it around and loves pushing under our TV stand and then digging it back out.

Not to be outdone by a child’s toy; I thought I could certainly make up something she would find more interesting.

So, I thought, what would be better than an octopus. It would have a stuffed head and eight great legs to grab on to. I made up the pattern and posted a more human-toy-like version on Free Amigurumi Octopus Pattern.

The cat toy version is a little smaller and doesn’t have any eyes. I also opted not to stuff the head to make it more human-foot friendly.

What I thought would be the ultimate cat toy appears to have been the ultimate snooze for our two girls. Neither one of them seems particularly interested in playing with it. They will swat at it if we annoy them with it but otherwise they don’t think all that much of my creation. Go figure.

I guess we could always use it as a stylin’ kitty hat…

I remember somewhere in the distant past, when I was still in high school, that kids were making and exchanging friendship bracelets as a colorful and quirky way to express their fondness for each other.

friendship bracelet30 months ago, I happened upon a wonderful website and forum dedicated to making friendship bracelets. The creator had patterns like I’ve never seen before and I went ahead and added the site in hopes of listing more like it and perhaps seeing some additional traffic from members of their forum. more…
